A Sting in the Tale Only the fearless will try this dark-side-of-the-moon version of ‘Stand By Me’

Bespoke - - WHOA! -

If you haven’t read a book by Jack Ketchum, then you definitely should. With stories that are violent, graphic and psychologically scarring, the ‘King of Horror’ himself, Stephen King, once described Ketchum as “the scariest guy in America”, also calling him “one of the best in the business, on par with Clive Barker, James Ellroy, and Thomas Harris.” And if you were to choose just one book then it would have to be ‘The Girl Next Door’, which tells the shocking story of the abuse of a teenage girl by her aunt and some neighbourhood kids, who torture, mutilate, and humiliate the poor 16-yearold over the course of a summer. What makes ‘The Girl Next Door’ all the more unpalatable is that the events really did happen, in Indiana, in 1965. In short, this book isn’t for the faint-hearted.
