Pie in the Sky
Crystal and Peninsula team up for an an extraordinary around-the-world private jet journey
Crystal Cruise Lines is taking to the skies in partnership with Peninsula Hotels for a new type of experience – the Aircruise. The inaugural journey begins on August 31st and circles the globe, visiting each of the Hong Kong-based hotel group’s ten properties, starting in New York, with stops in Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok and Paris, before returning to the Big Apple on September 26th. Now if, like T.s.elliot, you’re a believer that it’s the journey and not the destination that matters most then you’re in for a treat here. Crystal owns the plane and it’s a widebody Boeing 777-200LR, which is the largest and newest private tour jet in the world. They’ve also configured it spectacularly for just a lucky few, including 80 seats that convert to lie-flat beds complete with add-on mattresses (plus luxurious bedding, blankets, pillows, and duvets), state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment systems with 24-inch HD monitors, a dedicated dining room, a standup bar, a lounge, an extensive wine cellar and an on-board chef. At each destination, guests can take advantage of customisable experiences and, for the ultimate in seamless travel, won’t have to check in even once, as their key cards will have already been set for all their rooms. The price for a seat on the first aircruise is 159,000 USD per person, and the next journey won’t be until June 1st, 2018.
