They say the most important thing about dreams is having one in the first place and though the world may seem to be in decline (especially the Arab world), over the course of this issue we hope you see that not only is there a glorious surfeit of dreams to take inspiration from, their sheer diversity will leave you feeling better about what the future holds. We start with Raghida Dergham, who despite the odds against her, is actively working on creating a better tomorrow. We meet Cody Friesen who has invented a viable way of creating water out of thin air. We examine the positive and wide-ranging benefits of blockchain. And, around our region, we touch upon Saudi Arabia’s dream of modernisation (via KAPSARC), we visit the inspirational Banksy-conceived Walled Off Hotel in the Palestinian West Bank and, through a photo-essay, deliberate upon the millions of Syrian refugees who refuse to give up on their dream of returning home. On a lighter note, do check out our OMG supplement, which we had a blast compiling, and don’t miss our extensive feature on Alfa Romeo’s miraculous comeback. Finally, we were super chuffed to secure not just one, but two global mega-star exclusives – Lewis Hamilton and Virgil Abloh – especially as they’re the kind of people who perfectly embody what you can achieve when you pursue your dreams. Now, before I sign off, I should also divulge that we too have a dream, and it’s that we can be more than just a bi-monthly indulgence. That’s why we’ve been working for the last year and a half to create a game-changing digital platform, with the aim of connecting with you, our dear readers, on a far more regular basis. It’s all top-secret and in the works, but in the meantime, enjoy the issue and remember to trust in your dreams.
