DOME LIFTED INTO PLACE AT LOUVRE ABU DHABI
The final touchdown has occurred as the huge dome was put in place at the Louvre Abu Dhabi development. His Excellency Ali Majed Al Mansoori and the chairman of the board of the Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), as well as other board members, TDIC senior management and senior management of the main contractors, attended the event. The dome itself weighs 7,000 tonnes and was built over a period of 10 months. It now sits on top of the museum’s four main piers, after being lifted from its temporary towers and then being lowered 38cm down to its final position above the museum.
The lift that took place is the first of its kind in the world of construction for a permanent structure of this size.
