THREE NEW ‘CITIES’ TO BE BUILT IN JEDDAH

The Saudi city of Jeddah is soon to be home to three new ‘cities’, ac­cord­ing to an an­nounce­ment made by the city’s mu­nic­i­pal gov­ern­ment. The cities are ex­pected to fit into three cat­e­gories, with one be­ing mainly for residential use, the sec­ond for recre­ational pur­poses and the third for in­dus­trial use. The first city, the residential, will be si­t­u­ated in the Gulf of Sal­man, north of Jeddah. The city will be made up of 1,250 residential build­ings of­fer­ing 25,000 hous­ing units in a 3 mil­lion square me­tre space. The sec­ond is named the Al As­laa Val­ley Pro­ject and sits on a 130 mil­lion square me­tre plot of land to the east of Jeddah. This recre­ational city will be home to var­i­ous parks and recre­ation and sports fa­cil­i­ties. Fi­nally, the in­dus­trial city will be built in As­fan, which is also to the east of Jeddah.

This site cov­ers 5 mil­lion square me­tres and will in­clude a vast range of fac­to­ries and ware­houses.
