THREE NEW ‘CITIES’ TO BE BUILT IN JEDDAH
The Saudi city of Jeddah is soon to be home to three new ‘cities’, according to an announcement made by the city’s municipal government. The cities are expected to fit into three categories, with one being mainly for residential use, the second for recreational purposes and the third for industrial use. The first city, the residential, will be situated in the Gulf of Salman, north of Jeddah. The city will be made up of 1,250 residential buildings offering 25,000 housing units in a 3 million square metre space. The second is named the Al Aslaa Valley Project and sits on a 130 million square metre plot of land to the east of Jeddah. This recreational city will be home to various parks and recreation and sports facilities. Finally, the industrial city will be built in Asfan, which is also to the east of Jeddah.
This site covers 5 million square metres and will include a vast range of factories and warehouses.
