CENTURY-OLD SWISS FARM GETS AN EXCITING NEW MAKEOVER
A Zurich-based studio, EM2N, have converted a 150-yearold farm complex into an assortment of residential and office blocks. The plot is the 7,000 square-metre Hammer Farm estate in Cham, Switzerland. EM2N have renovated the entire site, which has been adapted and changed over the years but never completely restored at one time. In order to create additional accommodation, the architects added concrete and timber-clad blocks, extended the barns and remodeled the farmhouses.
Amongst the concrete lie patches of greenery, with the buildings surrounding a paved courtyard containing gravel, grass and aesthetic sloping pathways.
