Qatar’s sig­nif­i­cant in­vest­ment in cap­i­tal ex­pen­di­ture projects has given the coun­try vast po­ten­tial, es­pe­cially when it comes to the trans­port, in­fra­struc­ture, real es­tate, oil and gas and energy sec­tors. Qatar Projects Con­fer­ence 2015 will unite gov­ern­ment rep­re­sen­ta­tives, key pro­ject own­ers, de­vel­op­ers, con­sul­tants and fi­nanciers. The con­fer­ence will high­light fu­ture pro­ject op­por­tu­ni­ties, strate­gic pri­or­i­ties and master plans as Qatar pre­pares to award more than $200 bil­lion worth of ma­jor projects in the next 10 years (in­clud­ing $3 bil­lion worth of con­tracts to be closed in 2015). Qatar re­mains one of the top three at­trac­tive mar­kets for com­pa­nies do­ing busi­ness in and with the GCC re­gion. Top­ics of dis­cus­sion will in­clude the re­al­i­ties of the real es­tate mar­ket, achieve­ments in de­liv­er­ing large-scale healthcare projects, strate­gies for im­prov­ing eco­nomic growth, so­cial de­vel­op­ment and en­vi­ron­men­tal man­age­ment through sus­tain­able de­sign and con­struc­tion. MEED has also con­firmed par­tic­i­pa­tion from key stake­hold­ers in­clud­ing Ashghal, Qatar Foun­da­tion, Qatari Diar, Shell, Supreme Coun­cil of Health and many more. Those who at­tend the con­fer­ence will be able to net­work with over 400 other at­ten­dees, lis­ten to talks on con­struc­tion costs, labour chal­lenges and ac­cess to ma­te­ri­als, as well as learn more about the op­por­tu­ni­ties Qatar has to of­fer in the com­ing years. In 2014, around $34 bil­lion worth of con­tracts were awarded in the coun­try, and MEED an­tic­i­pates a fur­ther $30 bil­lion in 2015.
