WHAT The In­au­gu­ra­tion of the Ghalia Ay­man Jo­maa Suite at AUBMC WHEN 16th Jan­uary WHERE Main Med­i­cal Cen­tre Build­ing, AUBMC WHY Mem­bers of both the Berri and Jo­maa fam­i­lies at­tended the in­au­gu­ra­tion of the Ghalia Ay­man Jo­maa Suite on the 16th of Jan­uary, 2015 at AUBMC. The suite, a post­par­tum room, is si­t­u­ated on the sev­enth floor of the Main Med­i­cal Cen­tre Build­ing. The gen­er­ous do­na­tion by the Jo­maa fam­ily means that fur­ther pa­tients will be able to ben­e­fit from the high-qual­ity care at AUBMC. Rep­re­sen­ta­tives in at­ten­dance from AUBMC in­cluded Dr Ziyad Ghaz­zal, Deputy Vice Pres­i­dent for Med­i­cal Af­fairs and Raja N. Khuri, Dean of the Fac­ulty of Medicine, on be­half of Dr Mo­hamed Sayegh, Vice Pres­i­dent/Dean, Dr An­war Nas­sar, Chair­man of the Depart­ment of Ob­stet­rics and Gyne­col­ogy, and se­nior AUBMC fac­ulty and staff. Dr Nas­sar wel­comed ev­ery­one to the new room, aptly named af­ter baby Ghalia, be­fore thank­ing Mr. Ay­man and Mrs. Mayssa Jo­maa for “be­liev­ing in AUBMC as the place to be.” He con­tin­ued by ex­plain­ing, “This has al­ways been a spe­cial room which has pos­i­tively af­fected the lives of hun­dreds of women dur­ing past years, but now it has be­come even more spe­cial as it wit­nessed a re­birth, thanks to this gen­er­ous do­na­tion.” Mrs. Mayssa Jo­maa gave a few touch­ing words in which she re­flected on the sig­nif­i­cance of moth­er­hood, and how she hopes the do­na­tion will raise aware­ness amongst women who strug­gle to achieve what oth­ers have by God’s will. She gave her rea­sons for choos­ing AUBMC, stat­ing that, “apart from both Ay­man and I be­ing AUB Alumni, it is be­cause I trust AUBMC, all its med­i­cal staff, and what it stands for and be­cause I know many busi­ness ori­en­tated souls out­side this es­tab­lish­ment are tak­ing ad­van­tage of women des­per­ate for a child.”
