Dubai Parks and Resorts announced a deal with Merlin Entertainments for a new Legoland Dubai water park. The firm signed a deal for a Legoland theme park, one of three parks that have been agreed for the resort, alongside a motion gate and a Bollywood park outlet. The new water park will comprise various attractions, including a half-million gallon wave pool, a build-a-raft river and an imagination station that allows kids to construct bridges, dams and cities, and test their designs against the flow of water. Speaking to Construction Week Online, Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Resorts, said, “we are committed to offering unforgettable experiences to guests of all ages at Dubai Parks and Resorts. We are therefore very pleased to partner with Merlin Entertainments to bring this unique water park concept to the UAE as an exciting new element to the Legoland Dubai theme park.” Nick Varney, CEO of Merlin Entertainments, further commented, “we already have a strong working partnership with Dubai Parks and Resorts and this Legoland water park is an exciting and natural extension to our existing Park development here in Dubai.”
The water park is set to launch in October 2016 and has a target of approximately 6.7m visitors for the first year.
