Dubai Parks and Re­sorts an­nounced a deal with Mer­lin En­ter­tain­ments for a new Le­goland Dubai wa­ter park. The firm signed a deal for a Le­goland theme park, one of three parks that have been agreed for the re­sort, along­side a mo­tion gate and a Bol­ly­wood park out­let. The new wa­ter park will com­prise var­i­ous at­trac­tions, in­clud­ing a half-mil­lion gallon wave pool, a build-a-raft river and an imag­i­na­tion sta­tion that al­lows kids to con­struct bridges, dams and cities, and test their de­signs against the flow of wa­ter. Speak­ing to Con­struc­tion Week Online, Raed Al Nuaimi, CEO of Dubai Parks and Re­sorts, said, “we are com­mit­ted to of­fer­ing un­for­get­table ex­pe­ri­ences to guests of all ages at Dubai Parks and Re­sorts. We are there­fore very pleased to part­ner with Mer­lin En­ter­tain­ments to bring this unique wa­ter park con­cept to the UAE as an ex­cit­ing new el­e­ment to the Le­goland Dubai theme park.” Nick Var­ney, CEO of Mer­lin En­ter­tain­ments, fur­ther com­mented, “we al­ready have a strong work­ing part­ner­ship with Dubai Parks and Re­sorts and this Le­goland wa­ter park is an ex­cit­ing and nat­u­ral ex­ten­sion to our ex­ist­ing Park de­vel­op­ment here in Dubai.”

The wa­ter park is set to launch in Oc­to­ber 2016 and has a tar­get of ap­prox­i­mately 6.7m visi­tors for the first year.
