Golden Tulip hotels, part of French Louvre Hotels Group, has acquired the Midtown Hotel in Hamra, Beirut, turning it into the chain’s seventh property in the Lebanese market. According to Dr. Amine Moukarzel, president of Golden Tulip - MENA region, Louvre Hotels Group – MENA region, the chain has turned into the largest one in Lebanon, in terms of the number of properties. The network includes Golden Tulip Galleria in Jnah, Golden Tulip Serenada in Hamra, Golden Tulip Hôtel de Ville in Sodeco, Golden Tulip Jiyeh Marina in Jiyeh, Golden Tulip Lili’s Resort in Aley, and the recently inaugurated five-star Royal Tulip Achrafieh. The four-star Golden Tulip Midtown hotel, which has 85 rooms, is in a soft-renovation phase while remaining operational. “What helps us is our four-star category which is in high demand in the Lebanese market. Our coming strategy is to tackle the budget hotel sector,” he explained, announcing plans to introduce the chain’s Tulip Inn portfolio brand. “We are currently searching for the right properties and partners to debut this brand in Lebanon.” Golden Tulip Jounieh, the chain’s eighth property, is expected to open in May 2017. It will have 60 rooms.
