Accorhotels and Rixos Ho­tels have an­nounced a strate­gic part­ner­ship to ex­pand in the up­per up­scale/lux­ury mar­ket. Upon clos­ing, Accorhotels will own a 50 per­cent in­ter­est in the joint ven­ture man­age­ment com­pany. Accorhotels has also signed a ho­tel man­age­ment agree­ment be­tween Ara­bia Group, de­vel­op­ers of mixe­duse res­i­den­tial, re­tail and com­mer­cial de­vel­op­ments in Egypt and the UAE, in part­ner­ship with the Min­istry of Hous­ing and Ur­ban De­vel­op­ment. The deal will add the Fair­mont Pyra­mids Ho­tel & Res­i­dences to the com­pany’s chain. It is slated to open by 2022 and will in­crease Accorhotels’ op­er­a­tional and de­vel­op­ment pipeline to 32 ho­tels in Egypt with 12 ho­tels in the pipeline. Ac­cord­ing to Ac­corho­tel’s Mid­dle East and Africa CEO, Olivier Granet, the ho­tel chain has also signed a deal to launch the bou­tique ho­tel brand Mama Shel­ter in Dubai, sit­u­ated in Busi­ness Bay, sched­uled to open by 2020. With plans to dou­ble its Mid­dle East port­fo­lio from 25,000 rooms to 50,000 by 2020, the group in­tends to sign on av­er­age 15-20 new ho­tels across the re­gion each year.
