HORECA LE­BANON'S GROUND­BREAK­ING 25TH EDI­TION

HORECA, the an­nual meet­ing place for the hos­pi­tal­ity and food­ser­vice in­dus­tries, cel­e­brated the end of its mag­nif­i­cent 25th edi­tion on March 23 at Beirut’s Sea­side Arena. With more than 25 daily events, fo­rums and com­pe­ti­tions, the show tri­umphed in gath­er­ing top in­dus­try play­ers from around the globe

The of­fi­cial open­ing of HORECA Le­banon was held on March 20 un­der the pa­tron­age of Le­banon’s Min­is­ter of Tourism, H.E. Avedis Guida­nian. The cer­e­mony brought to­gether 14 of the coun­try’s lead­ing chefs, who cre­ated unique dishes from tra­di­tional Le­banese in­gre­di­ents.

Dur­ing the open­ing, five Le­banese pas­try-shop own­ers were honored for their piv­otal role in el­e­vat­ing Le­banese cui­sine. The re­cip­i­ents were: Amal Bohsali, Hal­lab Qasr el Helou 1881, Al Baba Sweets, Douaihy and Rafaat Hal­lab.

More than 350 ex­hibitors from coun­tries in­clud­ing Aus­tralia, Bel­gium, Brazil, Czech Repub­lic, Egypt, France, Hun­gary, Italy, Jor­dan, Kuwait, Le­banon, Nige­ria, Tur­key, Spain, Syria, UAE and the USA show­cased the lat­est in food and bev­er­age prod­ucts, cater­ing equip­ment, pack­ag­ing and la­bel­ing, and more.

HORECA hosted a num­ber of ex­cit­ing events such as the An­nual Hos­pi­tal­ity Fo­rum, Hos­pi­tal­ity Sa­lon Culi­naire, the Ju­nior Chef Com­pe­ti­tion, the Le­banese Barista Com­pe­ti­tion, the Le­banese Bar­tenders Com­pe­ti­tion, the Bed Mak­ing Com­pe­ti­tion, the Art of Ser­vice Com­pe­ti­tion, Ate­lier Gour­mand and the Na­tional Ex­tra Vir­gin Olive Oil Con­test.

There were a num­ber of new spa­ces high­light­ing art, de­sign and in­no­va­tions. The “Food is an Art” ex­hi­bi­tion by Nicolas Audi fea­tured 25 draw­ings from the renowned chef and caterer, while Bleu De­sign Con­sul­tants’ “Room for De­sign” show­cased the work of 10 Le­banese de­sign­ers in a con­tem­po­rary gue­stroom set­ting. Else­where, Bery­tech, the ecosys­tem for en­trepreneurs and Agry­tech, Le­banon’s agri-food in­no­va­tion hub, high­lighted seven of their star­tups.

Man­ag­ing di­rec­tor of Hos­pi­tal­ity Ser­vices, Joumana Dammous-salamé said: “HORECA is a su­perb plat­form for peo­ple to meet, do busi­ness and shape the fu­ture of the in­dus­try. We are thrilled to have reached this 25-year mile­stone: it proves that Le­banon is a true leader in hos­pi­tal­ity and food­ser­vices.”
