The 2018 In­ter­na­tional Trade Show of Ar­ti­san Ge­lato, Pas­try, Bak­ery and the Cof­fee World once again gave a great stim­u­lus to the Ital­ian­made con­fec­tionery sec­tor, a con­sis­tent part of the coun­try’s agri-food ex­port, which had reached 40 bil­lion eu­ros by the end of 2017. Now in its 39th edi­tion and tak­ing place at Ri­mini Expo Cen­tre, the show’s key events were the Coppa del Mondo of Ge­la­te­ria (Ge­lato World Cup) and The Pas­try Queen, with the ladies’ world pas­try cham­pi­onship ac­co­lade awarded to France’s An­abelle Lu­can­to­nio. At­ten­dees were also treated to an ex­tra­or­di­nary se­ries of events across all the prod­uct chains, un­der the ban­ner of in­no­va­tion and spe­cial­ist train­ing. France’s team, led by Elie J.H. Cazaus­sus, won the Gold medal at the Coppa del Mondo of Ge­la­te­ria 2018. Cazaus­sus, to­gether with fel­low team mem­bers Benoit Chervet, Christophe Do­mange, Jean-thomas Schei­der and Rémi Mon­tagne par­tic­i­pated with cre­ations on the theme Moulin Rouge in eight tests of ge­lato, pas­try, culi­nary arts and ice sculp­tures. The se­cond clas­si­fi­ca­tion of Sil­ver medal went to Spain, whose team chose the theme Mer­lin - The Wiz­ard. The team was led by Guillem Jordi and com­prised Adolfo Javier Romero Ro­driguez, Miguel An­gel Señoris Leiva, Jose Manuel Can­dela and Marc Balanguer Fabra. In third place came Aus­tralia, win­ning the Bronze medal. The team, led by Martino Pic­colo and made up of An­dre San­di­son, Thomas Mitchell, Donato Toce and Kenji Ogawa, se­lected Star Wars as its theme.
