RE­OPEN­ING NABATIEH’S STARS CIN­EMA

Nabatieh once had a num­ber of cin­e­mas serv­ing its pop­u­la­tion but af­ter Stars Cin­ema closed in 1990, the south Le­banon town has been with­out a cultural space. That is set to change soon though, as Kassem Is­tan­bouli, the founder of per­form­ing arts plat­form Is­tan­bouli The­ater, is working on re­open­ing it. Find­ing suc­cess with his trans­for­ma­tion of the old Al Hamra Cin­ema in Sour into a cultural space, Stars Cin­ema will be­come a plat­form to build cultural projects for the com­mu­nity.
