AL BOURTASI MOSQUE, TRIPOLI

Lebanon Traveler - - THE GREAT ESCAPE -

“In the old city of Tripoli, at the exit of the Khan Al Khiyatin (Market of Tailors), you face one of the most beautiful mosques in the city. Built in 1310BC, Al Bourtasi Mosque was an early example of Mamluk architecture. The challenges behind the architecture and construction of the mosque, its influences of Andalusian, Moroccan and Byzantine design and its artistic and graceful details, show the ingenuity of its architect, artist and builder.” Photo by Dany Dabbagh danydabbagh@gmail.com, @danythedan
