BEIRUT: The wallpaper “Le Soleil Toujours” (“The Sun Always”), Etel Adnan’s self-consciously optimistic depiction of our nearest star, is among the works on show in “The Uprising of Colors.” Up at Sfeir-Semler gallery through April 11, this overview of Adnan’s sprawling multidisciplinary practice — sampling her poetry, small format paintings, large-scale works, leporellos and tapestries — seeks to be a modest contribution to the sustainability of Beirut’s arts sector, “offering a splash of hope amid the current severe political and economic crisis Lebanon is witnessing.” –
