It wasn’t un­til the 1960s that it started to be­come ap­pro­pri­ate to wear blue jeans in public or in so­cial set­tings, and the decade o"ered a wide range of styles. Fe­male col­lege stu­dents in the 1960s were wear­ing ta­pered high­waist styles, cute capris and even denim jack­ets, while hip­pie men and women alike were try­ing %ared !ts with ex­tras like hand-sewn em­broi­dery, patches and bold color dyes.
