Some trends can be quite in­tim­i­dat­ing to the unini­ti­ated, and print mix­ing is one for which many women wish that they could !nd an in­struc­tional book­let. #is sea­son is packed with in­ter­est­ing pat­tern com­bi­na­tions that are not for the faint of heart. Jean Paul Gaultier kicked o" his !nal ready-to-wear show with over­sized graphic text, pais­ley, stripes and ban­danna prints in co­or­di­nat­ing tones. Mai­son Martin Margiela in­cor­po­rated 1970s-inspired checks, %orals and stripes in sim­i­lar tones. Try Marni’s in­ter­pre­ta­tion of the trend by mix­ing prints in co­or­di­nat­ing tones but two di"er­ent scales – large and medium – for a cool op­ti­cal il­lu­sion e"ect.
