1. SGBL SAYS LEBANON’S SERVICE EXPORTS MAY REACH $17BN IN 2015
Lebanon’s exports are steadily improving from their sharpest downturn since the late 1990s, despite continued disruption in trade through Syria. At the same time, imports are showing a sharp downturn driven largely by lower oil prices and a falling Euro. The value of goods exports increased by 2.6% yoy to $250.2m in January, while volumes surged by 18.6% yoy to 177,954 tons, reflecting higher export volumes at lower prices. Goods exports, which appear to have bottomed out in 2014, are expected to stage a moderate recovery in the coming two years, but are unlikely to return to their peak levels in the foreseeable future.
2. ABC INSTALL THE LARGEST PRIVATE PHOTOVOLTAIC PLANT IN LEBANON
ABC, the Lebanese retail pioneer and environmental awareness promoter, has launched an unprecedented green project that will see the largest private photovoltaic plant in Lebanon installed in ABC Achrafieh. The project will provide a capacity of 0.45 MW that is enough to power ABC department store, the equivalent of feeding up to 500 houses. Through this initiative, ABC aims to support eco-friendly initiatives that are top priority in its Corporate Social Responsibility program and to assert its leading role in incentivizing other corporations to adopt smart ecosolutions.
3. ANB MOTORCYCLES ORGANIZES TEST RIDE EVENT
As part of its ongoing effort to promote fun and safe riding, ANB Motorcycles, the official distributor of KTM and Piaggio Group brands in Lebanon, organized a thrilling three-day test ride event on the 4th, 5th and 6th of April 2015 respectively. ANB Motorcycles’ customers and media personnel were all invited to take part in the exciting event in which everyone got a taste of the new KTM RC 390 and Duke 390 motorcycles on the challenging racetrack. A number of professional riders were assisting the guests to ensure that they enjoy a safe riding experience; amateur and unseasoned riders were given accurate riding tips that enhanced their riding control and helped them enhance their skills.
4. BARISTA ESPRESSO BRINGS THE ITALIAN STREETS TO BEIRUT
Marked by its high quality of coffee, Barista Espresso, Lebanon’s leading manufacturer of authentic Italian coffee, unveiled its new wide range of espresso capsules and machine. The launch, shadowed by an all Italianthemed brunch, took place on April 28, 2015 at La Posta in Achrafieh, gathering media representatives and Barista Espresso founders who enjoyed an Italian buffet and entertainment. With the opportunity of experiencing the best of two worlds, both being a Barista themselves and the coffee drinkers, attendees freshly prepared their own cup of coffee with the new capsules, while using Barista Espresso’s all new aroma espresso machine.
