1. SGBL SAYS LE­BANON’S SER­VICE EX­PORTS MAY REACH $17BN IN 2015

Le­banon’s ex­ports are steadily im­prov­ing from their sharpest down­turn since the late 1990s, de­spite con­tin­ued dis­rup­tion in trade through Syria. At the same time, im­ports are show­ing a sharp down­turn driven largely by lower oil prices and a fall­ing Euro. The value of goods ex­ports in­creased by 2.6% yoy to $250.2m in Jan­uary, while vol­umes surged by 18.6% yoy to 177,954 tons, re­flect­ing higher ex­port vol­umes at lower prices. Goods ex­ports, which ap­pear to have bot­tomed out in 2014, are ex­pected to stage a mod­er­ate re­cov­ery in the com­ing two years, but are un­likely to re­turn to their peak lev­els in the fore­see­able fu­ture.

2. ABC IN­STALL THE LARGEST PRI­VATE PHO­TO­VOLTAIC PLANT IN LE­BANON

ABC, the Le­banese re­tail pi­o­neer and en­vi­ron­men­tal aware­ness pro­moter, has launched an un­prece­dented green pro­ject that will see the largest pri­vate pho­to­voltaic plant in Le­banon in­stalled in ABC Achrafieh. The pro­ject will pro­vide a ca­pac­ity of 0.45 MW that is enough to power ABC depart­ment store, the equiv­a­lent of feed­ing up to 500 houses. Through this ini­tia­tive, ABC aims to sup­port eco-friendly ini­tia­tives that are top pri­or­ity in its Cor­po­rate So­cial Re­spon­si­bil­ity pro­gram and to as­sert its lead­ing role in in­cen­tiviz­ing other cor­po­ra­tions to adopt smart ecoso­lu­tions.

3. ANB MO­TOR­CY­CLES OR­GA­NIZES TEST RIDE EVENT

As part of its on­go­ing ef­fort to pro­mote fun and safe rid­ing, ANB Mo­tor­cy­cles, the of­fi­cial dis­trib­u­tor of KTM and Pi­ag­gio Group brands in Le­banon, or­ga­nized a thrilling three-day test ride event on the 4th, 5th and 6th of April 2015 re­spec­tively. ANB Mo­tor­cy­cles’ cus­tomers and media per­son­nel were all in­vited to take part in the ex­cit­ing event in which ev­ery­one got a taste of the new KTM RC 390 and Duke 390 mo­tor­cy­cles on the chal­leng­ing race­track. A num­ber of pro­fes­sional riders were as­sist­ing the guests to en­sure that they en­joy a safe rid­ing ex­pe­ri­ence; am­a­teur and un­sea­soned riders were given ac­cu­rate rid­ing tips that en­hanced their rid­ing con­trol and helped them en­hance their skills.

4. BARISTA ESPRESSO BRINGS THE ITAL­IAN STREETS TO BEIRUT

Marked by its high qual­ity of cof­fee, Barista Espresso, Le­banon’s lead­ing man­u­fac­turer of au­then­tic Ital­ian cof­fee, un­veiled its new wide range of espresso cap­sules and ma­chine. The launch, shad­owed by an all Italianthemed brunch, took place on April 28, 2015 at La Posta in Achrafieh, gath­er­ing media rep­re­sen­ta­tives and Barista Espresso founders who en­joyed an Ital­ian buf­fet and en­ter­tain­ment. With the op­por­tu­nity of ex­pe­ri­enc­ing the best of two worlds, both be­ing a Barista them­selves and the cof­fee drinkers, at­ten­dees freshly pre­pared their own cup of cof­fee with the new cap­sules, while us­ing Barista Espresso’s all new aroma espresso ma­chine.
