FISH SUNSCREEN

U Magazine - - HEALTH -

According to a new study published in the online journal elife, scientists proved that many fish and reptiles create their own sunscreen by producing a compound called gadusol, which provides strong protection from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The study explored the options of copying this natural antioxidant compound from zebrafish to use in sunscreen products and pills, in addition to aiding the body’s stress response mechanism.
