OBJETS NOMADES: Louis Vuitton enriches its collection of foldable furniture and travel accessories
Transporting its heritage into new territory, Louis Vuitton enriches its collection of foldable furniture and travel accessories created in collaboration with several international designers first presented during the Design Miami fair in 2012.
The Objets Nomades range now includes 16 items – from a hammock to a foldable stool – all in noble materials and sold in limited editions or experimental prototypes. Created in collaboration with some of the most creative designers of our times: Patricia Urquiola, Maarten Baas, the Campana Brothers, Barber & Osgerby, Damien Langlois-meurinne, Atelier Oï, Nendo, Gwenaël Nicolas and Raw Edges, the collection pays homage to the House’s special orders of the past – such as the iconic Bed Trunk or Wardrobe Trunk – and adds a defiantly contemporary spirit. Always reinventing itself, Louis Vuitton also commissioned new talented designers for the project this year. Sharing a sense of intuitiveness, desire and pleasure, the Objets Nomades continue Louis Vuitton’s tradition of offering inspiring and surprising designs to clients all over the world.
Luxury, functionality and innovation have driven Louis Vuitton since the mid 19th century. A design pioneer, Louis Vuitton constantly anticipated fashion and kept pace with evolving lifestyles. The encounter between the House’s know-how and numerous renowned designers has given Louis Vuitton the occasion to develop inventive new shapes and materials that became references in the world of design. Today, the tradition is renewed with the creation of the Objets Nomades.
The beauty of fine materials, plasticity of forms, carefully balanced proportions, complexity of craftsmanship, close attention to details… The precepts dear to remarkable designers and the exceptional knowhow of Louis Vuitton unite in the Objets Nomades, all produced and sold in limited-edition. This association, born of aesthetic rigor, flair for innovation and artisanal expertise, is the focal point of all creative activity at Louis Vuitton. The materials have been painstakingly selected to give the pieces in the collection their noblest expression. Each form has its fabric, and each piece its enhancement – foldable, modular, portable – demanding the most meticulous craftsmanship.
