Amsterdam-based Persian beauty Negin Mirsalehi lends us her personal insight into the world of fashion blogging.

You probably recognize Negin from browsing through your social media apps. Indeed, Negin is currently one of the most popular fashion bloggers in the world with more than 2.5 million followers on Instagram alone (@neginmirsalehi). I met Negin back at New York Fashion Week, and was pleased to have the chance to interview her for U Magazine. With her blog Negin Mirsalehi, she offers great insight on fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Her collaboration with global fashion brands, her Master’s degree in Marketing, and most recently, her appointment as ambassador for fellow Arab designer Rami Kadi easily prove her successful. Additionally, Negin’s creativity in combining her family’s beekeeping business with her job in fashion confirms that Negin is definitely a game changer in the fashion industry. What inspired you to start your blog, and what got you into fashion? I was preparing my thesis for my MA Marketing degree when a friend of mine recommended starting with Instagram. It was on Instagram that I became familiar with various bloggers and became curious as to what the blogging phenomena really entailed. After some research, I discovered what it was all about, and then I realized that this was something that was made for me. Share your Insta-wisdom with us. What makes a killer post? In general, the more personal, the better. Also, a good backdrop always works as well, like a pretty tropical background. You have collaborated with brand giants such as L’oreal, Dior, Temptu, Forever 21, Dolce & Gabbana and Lancôme, and to top it off, you are one of the leading fashion bloggers on the scene. What’s your recipe for success? My recipe for success is to work very hard and to never forget the reason why you started, which for me is my passion for fashion and beauty. It’s also important for us to surround ourselves with positive people that understand our work spirit. I feel very lucky to also have my boyfriend as my business partner because we have the same goals, and he’s the best when it comes to handling the business side of things. It’s no mystery that you have traveled the world! Which city had your favorite style? I loved visiting Dubrovnik in Croatia; it is such a magical place. There are still a lot of places that I would like to visit such as Iceland, Australia, Japan and Norway. What is the most important piece of style advice you would give to your followers? Have fun and experiment with fashion. Learn what you feel most comfortable and confident in, but at the same time, always try something new. What’s your favorite part of attending Fashion Week?
