Think twice before drinking that energy drink. A new study presented at the 2015 American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions reveals that drinking one 16-ounce energy drink negatively affects cardiovascular health, blood pressure and stress hormone responses in young, healthy adults. During the study conducted, the tested levels of Norepinephrine − a chemical responsible for regulating heart rate and breathing in response to bodily stress − were twice as high as normal! This sudden, increased boost of the hormone may cause serious implications and risk of developing cardiovascular disease.
