Top guns main­tain im­pres­sive form

Li­oLi ham­mered Likhopo 3-0 last Sun­day to main­tain their im­pres­sive form as the Vodacom Premier League pro­gramme edges to­wards the end of the first round.

In­form striker, Tšepo Se­tu­ru­mane, bagged a brace, while Tšepo Lekhooana scored the other goal to hand Tse Nala their sev­enth win of the cam­paign in a highly en­ter­tain­ing match played at Set­soto Sta­dium.

This was Likhopo’s sixth de­feat in 10 matches, and en­sured they re­mained sec­ond from bot­tom on the 14-team ta­ble.

Se­tu­ru­mane has now hit the back of the net six times and trails the league’s cur­rent top scorer, Litšepe Marabe of Bantu, by three goals.

With their cur­rent goal-scor­ing form, it looks like the duo would once again, bat­tleit-out for the Golden Boot award rem­i­nis­cent of their 2012/13 duel when Se­tu­ru­mane even­tu­ally won it with 13 goals, while Marabe had 12.

Mean­while, de­fend­ing league cham­pi­ons, Bantu main­tained their po­si­tion at the top of the ta­ble with a 3-0 win over Mphat­lat­sane in St Mon­ica’s on Satur­day.

Marabe snatched his ninth goal of the cam­paign, with Hopolang Mohlalefi grab­bing the other goals, to com­plete the rout.

A Matšo Mate­bele lead the Premier League ta­ble with 24 points, while LDF are sec­ond with 23, and Li­oli come in third po­si­tion with 22 points.

The Tey­ateya­neng-based Li­oli have only played nine matches com­pared with Bantu’s 12 and LDF’s 11 fix­tures.

Army side LDF en­sure their re­mained in sec­ond po­si­tion after a 2-1 win over Lik­ila, also on Satur­day.

At the bot­tom of the ta­ble, LMPS’ night­mare con­tin­ued last week­end as they suf­fered their sev­enth loss of the cam­paign.

The po­lice side are bot­tom of the ta­ble with six points, and fell 1-0 to Nyenye Rovers last week­end, who are slowly find­ing their feet and have now gone on a three­match un­beaten run.

Rovers had strug­gled with their game in the early stage of the sea­son, but are now push­ing for a Top 8 fin­ish.

Sun­dawana were also 2-1 win­ners over Kick­4Life in Butha-Buthe while Mat­lama edged Qoal­ing High­landers 1-0, thanks to a Jane Tha­ban­tšo strike at LCS Ground on Sun­day.
