Tragic end to do­mes­tic dis­putes

A 27-year-old se­cu­rity guard is in po­lice cus­tody af­ter al­legedly fa­tally shoot­ing his wife on Christ­mas day.

Ac­cord­ing to Po­lice spokesper­son Le­bona Mohloboli, the guard al­legedly gunned down his 25-year-old spouse fol­low­ing an ar­gu­ment in nyokosoba in Roma. The man is said to have sus­pected his wife of in­fi­delity, which led to the ar­gu­ment, ac­cord­ing to se­nior In­spec­tor Mohloboli.

“The 27-year-old sus­pect was on duty at a lo­cal su­per­mar­ket where he works as a se­cu­rity guard,” se­nior In­spec­tor Mohloboli said.

“It is al­leged that the now-de­ceased and the sus­pect had a fierce ar­gu­ment, which led to the shoot­ing of the woman. The woman died on the spot and the sus­pect was ar­rested at the scene of crime.

“The woman’s body was taken to the mor­tu­ary, while the sus­pect is still in cus­tody as po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions con­tinue.”

Mean­while, in an­other fa­tal do­mes­tic dis­pute, a 26-year-old woman was al­legedly beaten to death by her 36-year-old hus­band fol­low­ing a heated ar­gu­ment at a public bar in Litha­ba­neng, also on Christ­mas day.

Ac­cord­ing to se­nior In­spec­tor Mohloboli, the cou­ple left the bar soon af­ter the dis­pute but the ar­gu­ment erupted once more on their way home.

“Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions have re­vealed that the cou­ple had a heated ar­gu­ment while drink­ing at a lo­cal bar in Litha­ba­neng.

“The two then left the pub but on their way home, ar­gued again and the man is said to have hit the woman with an iron-rod un­til she died. It is be­lieved both were drunk dur­ing the in­ci­dent.

“The sus­pect handed him­self to Thamae Po­lice sta­tion soon af­ter the mur­der, while the vic­tim’s body was taken to the mor­tu­ary. The sus­pect is still in po­lice cus­tody and in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the case con­tinue. The sus­pect will ap­pear in court once in­ves­ti­ga­tions are through,” se­nior In­spec­tor Mohloboli said.
