Morija to host animation exhibition
MORIJA Museum and Archives (MMA), will host an art and animation exhibition on Saturday as part of efforts to reinvent the arts and heritage hub.
The exhibition, which will be held at MMA’S Linotšing Studios in Morija, will feature artworks from recently-graduated artists. The grandaunts underwent a seven-week intensive training programme at the MMA studios courtesy of the Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (BEDCO).
According to MMA Events Manager and Media Officer Lineo Segoete, the event, dubbed RE BO MANG-REDEFINITION (who we are), is meant to showcase the museum’s evolution as well as promoting the arts sector.
“As stated by our theme for the event, we are taking a different approach from the way we used to promote the services we offer, and this is a pilot event for our new approach,” Segoete said.
“We are entering into a new and exciting phase where we will be able to offer more services to Basotho and continue to be their number one arts destination.”
The expo will be held on an open stage with attendees free to showcase their music, dance, theatre and poetry skills, followed by a film screening in the evening.
“Guests will also have the pleasure of having a walk-about at The Hub, the new crea- tive technology lab at Morija Museum which will be offering training in an array of disciplines from photography to journalistic writing,” she said.
Added to that, musical performances from Hairogliphic, Silent State from Mafeteng, and a live deejay are also lined up to keep the crowd entertained.
“The Museum invites Basotho to come and enjoy its various services as we want to highlight the immense creative talent that Basotho have and demonstrate our appreciation for March as Basotho’s heritage month,” said Segoete.
“We are expecting kids and adults aged 35 and below as well as the young at heart.”
She further stated that while the event is free of charge, guests will be required to pay a M30 for bringing their cooler-boxes onto the museum premises.
