Morija to host an­i­ma­tion ex­hi­bi­tion

MORIJA Mu­seum and Ar­chives (MMA), will host an art and an­i­ma­tion ex­hi­bi­tion on Satur­day as part of ef­forts to rein­vent the arts and her­itage hub.

The ex­hi­bi­tion, which will be held at MMA’S Linotšing Stu­dios in Morija, will fea­ture art­works from re­cently-grad­u­ated artists. The grandaunts un­der­went a seven-week in­ten­sive train­ing pro­gramme at the MMA stu­dios cour­tesy of the Ba­sotho En­ter­prise Devel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (BEDCO).

Ac­cord­ing to MMA Events Manager and Me­dia Of­fi­cer Li­neo Se­goete, the event, dubbed RE BO MANG-RE­DEF­I­NI­TION (who we are), is meant to show­case the mu­seum’s evo­lu­tion as well as pro­mot­ing the arts sec­tor.

“As stated by our theme for the event, we are tak­ing a dif­fer­ent ap­proach from the way we used to pro­mote the ser­vices we of­fer, and this is a pi­lot event for our new ap­proach,” Se­goete said.

“We are en­ter­ing into a new and ex­cit­ing phase where we will be able to of­fer more ser­vices to Ba­sotho and con­tinue to be their num­ber one arts des­ti­na­tion.”

The expo will be held on an open stage with at­ten­dees free to show­case their mu­sic, dance, theatre and po­etry skills, fol­lowed by a film screen­ing in the evening.

“Guests will also have the plea­sure of hav­ing a walk-about at The Hub, the new crea- tive tech­nol­ogy lab at Morija Mu­seum which will be of­fer­ing train­ing in an ar­ray of dis­ci­plines from photography to jour­nal­is­tic writ­ing,” she said.

Added to that, mu­si­cal per­for­mances from Hairogliphic, Si­lent State from Mafeteng, and a live dee­jay are also lined up to keep the crowd en­ter­tained.

“The Mu­seum in­vites Ba­sotho to come and en­joy its var­i­ous ser­vices as we want to high­light the im­mense cre­ative tal­ent that Ba­sotho have and demon­strate our ap­pre­ci­a­tion for March as Ba­sotho’s her­itage month,” said Se­goete.

“We are ex­pect­ing kids and adults aged 35 and be­low as well as the young at heart.”

She fur­ther stated that while the event is free of charge, guests will be re­quired to pay a M30 for bring­ing their cooler-boxes onto the mu­seum premises.
