Khuli to collaborate with Juvy
SOUTH African Motswako rapper, Khulane “Khuli Chana” Morule, says he intends to collaborate with local artists with rapper Juvy his first port of call.
Khuli Chana headlined Lesotho Planned Parenthood Association’s (LPPA) pageant for tertiary institutions at the National University of Lesotho’s Netherlands Hall in Roma on Saturday.
The “Motswako Originater”, as he is affectionately known by his hordes of fans, put up a scintillating performance which left revellers asking for more.
Speaking to the Weekender on the sidelines of the pageant, Khuli Chana said he regarded Lesotho as his second home and plans were afoot to collaborate with a local artist.
“I have genuine love for Lesotho, especially because its culture is vintage and original,” he said.
“My aim is to work with local artists, especially those whose sound is traditional. I need to find a vocalist from around here.
“For all the artists who want to work with me, I can be reached via social media networks such as Twitter and Instragram on the handle @khulichana.”
The Freshe hit maker said he was looking forward to performing again in Lesotho during the main event of the Spring Madness on 31 October at Victoria Poolside in Maseru. It will also feature the foreign contingent of Zeus, Duncan, Lection, Towdeemac, Khosimowa, Adrianto, DJ Khenzo, Mr Massie, DJ Zondi and DJ Tira.
The local acts will include L-tore, Juvy, Stlofa, Hally, Skebz D, Nirex, Axo Mind, Queen Mo, Sadon, Mr Beekay, T-mech, Blaze, Silent Fate, Peele Feela, Thizozo, Da Starr and Dallas T.
“I will be in Lesotho again for the Motswako Invasion on the last day of this month and I intend to visit this beautiful country as often as possible,” Khuli Chana said.
Khuli Chana added that he was impressed by the performance of Juvy, who was the opening act at the pageant, saying they would soon discuss a collaboration.
“One other thing I noticed is that this kid, Juvy, is very talented and the audience loved him,” the Mahamba Yetwa star noted.
“His performance was truly outstanding and we will work on something very soon.”
Contacted for comment, Juvy, whose single Skipa Se Ntekane is currently a club anthem, said he felt “honoured” by the recognition.
“Khuli Chana is one of the top rappers in South Africa, and that is why he is called the Motswako Originator. I look up to him and am inspired by the way he arranges his songs,” said Juvy.
“When he told me that he wanted to work with me, it felt like one of those indescribable moments which proved that my hard work is really paying off.”
He added: “I gave him a copy of my latest offering, Hustler By Profession, and Khuli Chana said he would listen to it and finalise the deal on 31 October when he comes to Maseru.”
