Post­bank robbed of M870 000

Two gun­men robbed Le­sotho Post­bank along Kingsway of an es­ti­mated M870 000 at mid­day on Mon­day this week.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice spokesper­son Clif­ford Molefe, the rob­bers fled the scene in a taxi­cab and are still at large.

“It is true that two armed men fled with money be­long­ing to Le­sotho Post­bank on Mon­day. I can­not dis­close the amount taken as do­ing so could com­pro­mise our in­ves­ti­ga­tions,” Se­nior In­spec­tor Molefe said.

“Po­lice in­ves­ti­ga­tions into the case are con­tin­u­ing and so far, no ar­rests have been made in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent.”

Se­nior In­spec­tor Molefe said no one was in­jured dur­ing the dar­ing rob­bery.

How­ever, al­though the po­lice could not re­veal how much money was taken, the Le­sotho Times was re­li­ably in­formed it was M870 000.

Le­sotho Post Bank Head of Cus­tomer and In­for­ma­tion Re­la­tions, Mama­hapela Mokuoane, re­ferred the Le­sotho Times to the man­ag­ing di­rec­tor, Molefi Le­qhaoe, when con­tacted for com­ment on Tues­day.

How­ever, ef­forts to con­tact Mr Le­qhaoe were not suc­cess­ful.
