A HA-RAMOKITIMI man was on Tuesday sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping his 15-year-old daughter.

The monster father (name withheld to protect the identity of the child) was found guilty as charged by Senior Resident Magistrate ‘Manapo Motebele.

The man abused his daughter from September to November this year while he was under the influence of alcohol.

Senior Resident Magistrate Motebele imposed the sentence without an option of a fine.

The man pleaded guilty when he first appeared in the Maseru Magistrate’s court on Monday.

The teenager told the court how her father would always come home drunk and openly tell her that he was going to sexually abuse her.

The girl further told the court her father would occasionally threaten her until she finally gave in to his demands.

However, the girl finally reported the abuse to her friend since her mother is now late.

The friend in turn informed the girl’s grandfather who tried to reprimanding his son but to no avail.

in mitigation for a lesser sentence, the rapist father said he was first-time offender who deserved a second chance. He also apologised for his offense.

“i am sorry for what i have done. i have two minor children who depend on me. These children are going to suffer should i be jailed,” he pleaded with the court.

However, the magistrate responded with a 15-year jail term.
