MOJABENG Senekal, will on Saturday host a three-day modelling boot camp at Morija High School to impart pageantry and social etiquette skills to up-and-coming beauty queens.

The 22-year old stunner clinched the Charity Award at the Face of Beauty International 2015 in October at the Grand Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan. She has also accumulated a slew of crowns which include the Miss Personality 2014, Miss Royalty 2014 and Miss NUL 2015. She was also a runner-up in the Face of KO 2014 pageant.

Senekal told the Weekender this week that the camp was meant to nurture budding beauty queens and instil the confidence and poise needed to compete at the highest levels.

“On numerous occasions, I have seen beauty queens become snotty and pompous after winning a title. Such behaviour reflects badly on our industry hence my hosting the camp,” she said.

“The aim of the camp is to instil humility and etiquette in young women, and also to equip them with the skills needed to thrive in the pageantry sector.”

The initiative, Senekal said, was largely bankrolled by the money she won in Taiwan, with support from her parents and Mohalalitoe-based Fine Executer Printers.

The Butha-buthe-based beauty said it was important to empower young ladies with knowledge about their rights so they would not be taken for a ride.

“In this industry, it is important to have standards, because some people will be out to take advantage of us. These are the issues I intend to deal with so that every girl knows when to say no and when to say yes,” she said.

“After the camp I hope to see self-driven young women who are not afraid to dream big. I learnt a lot in Taiwan and if aspiring models can master some of the aspects I witnessed in Taiwan, we will become a pageantry powerhouse.”

The panel of moderators will also include cat-walk trainer BeBe Seema, choreographer and dance instructor Mobster the Champ as well as National University of Lesotho gym instructor Lelingoana Ndebele.
