Basketball gears for final stretch

The Lesotho Basketball Association (LBA) is hoping this week’s four-day clinic held at Lehakoe Recreational Club would help take basketball to a higher level.

The seminar started on Monday and ends today and was meant to equip development and ladies teams with the basic fundamentals of the sport.

LBA Director for Coaching and Develop- ment Fako Masupha and KTA All Stars ladies team coach Bokang Pharela, conducted the clinic.

According to LBA public relations officer, Molupe Ratšolo, the training seeks to ensure the players are ready when the second round of the season resumes on the second week of January.

“We are basically trying to prepare our players before the second round of the season gets underway especially our ladies and development teams,” said Ratšolo.

“The purpose of the clinic is to equip the players with the basic fundamentals and help grow their game and work on their conditioning before the league campaign resumes,” said Ratšolo.

Ratšolo added the clinic was continuation of the work Masupha had been doing in Thaba-tseka, Butha-buthe and Leribe districts since the beginning of this month.

“It’s actually a continuation of what Masupha was doing because he has been going to Thaba-tseka, Butha-buthe and Leribe for such clinics and focusing solely on the development of young players,” he said.

Ratšolo, who also plays for KTA All Stars, said the first round of the season was “super” but expected competition to be tougher in the final round.

“We will resume the second round on a very high note after a very good first round. You can see that the competition has been improving in our league and we want to see more of the same in the second round,” said Ratšolo.
