Film to spot­light plight of youth

SCRIPTWRITER and for­mer Vo­da­com Su­per­star tal­ent search pre­sen­ter, Rele­bo­hile “MSLRELO” Mosola, says he is work­ing on a film that ex­plores the so­cial im­pact of youth unemployment in Le­sotho.

Ac­cord­ing to MSLRELO, he will part­ner Brayk­thru Me­dia owner, Bene­dict “Benny B” Mokhatla in mak­ing the 120 minute film which will be shot by the lat­ter’s Cloud9 Pro­duc­tions.

MSLRELO was a scriptwriter for the ra­dio drama se­ries, S’moko Feela, while Benny B has directed com­mer­cial videos and mu­sic videos among oth­ers.

Ti­tled Okapi, the film is set to shine a spot­light on the vices some youths en­gage in af­ter fail­ing to find em­ploy­ment. MSLRELO said the film will delve in the world of drug traf­fick­ing, rob­bery and other acts of crim­i­nal­ity.

“We have a lot of youths who are un­able to find jobs af­ter grad­u­at­ing and have re­sorted to form­ing groups known as Mabaeda which en­gage in crim­i­nal­ity,” MSLRELO told the Week­ender this week.

“The crim­i­nal acts they com­mit are meant to sus­tain a flashy life of ex­pen­sive clothes, cars, women and al­co­hol con­sump­tion.”

He said the film would be shot in Maseru, Ma­put­soe and Butha-buthe.
