Easter week­end awash with gigs

THE Easter hol­i­day is awash with a lot of ac­tiv­i­ties, with rev­ellers spoilt for choice with the many events lined up.

Rang­ing from mu­sic to ad­ven­ture, the events cater for var­i­ous ages and tastes. Be­low is your gig guide for the long week­end…

THURS­DAY

Maseru Touch Down

Kick­ing off the fes­tiv­i­ties will be the Maseru Touch Down at the city cen­tre-based Cuban Linx. The event is meant to wel­come peo­ple from the di­as­pora upon their ar­rival for the Easter hol­i­day. The mu­si­cal line-up in­cludes South African DJ PH along­side lo­cal acts such as Trybz, Smooth, Katz, Kon­sept, Da Starr, Afrodj and Mekonko.

FRI­DAY

Maseru Easter Fes­ti­val

A star-stud­ded line-up of for­eign and lo­cal artists is set to per­form at Maseru Club grounds in a mu­si­cal show dubbed Maseru Easter Fes­ti­val. Or­gan­ised by Rock the City En­ter­tain­ment, the event will fea­ture per­for­mances from Malawi’s Gemini Ma­jor, South Africa’s Black Mo­tion, Na­dia Nakai, Naaq Musiq, DJ SK, DJ Mlungu, Sdud­lanoma100, DJ Micks and Tuks Sen­ganga. The lo­cal con­tin­gent will in­clude DJ Vesta, Za­gro DJS, DJ Monyase, Deepee, J-cob, Afro DJ, Juvy, Kot Inferno, Sir Nic, Mega Hertz, 3RD Code, Lady Dee, Kta Kings and the em­cee Mavele.

Ma­luti May­hem

Afri Ski Moun­tain Re­sort in Mahlasela, ButhaButhe will host a four-day ad­ven­tur­ous week­end. The event will fea­ture ac­tiv­i­ties such as moun­tain bike rid­ing and hik­ing at the 3 222m above sea level re­sort. A num­ber of kids’ ac­tiv­i­ties are also lined up at the re­sort.

Fam­ily Easter Egg Hunt

Maseru Mall will host an Easter egg hunt con­test for fam­i­lies with cash prizes and shop­ping vouch­ers in store for the win­ners. A par­tic­i­pat­ing team would con­sist of ei­ther one adult and a child, one adult and two chil­dren, two adults and two chil­dren, one adult and three chil­dren, one adult and four chil­dren or two adults and the chil­dren. Regis­tra­tion is free and held from 8am to 10am when the egg hunt be­gins.

Easter VIP Ex­pe­ri­ence

Lioness Events, in part­ner­ship with 101 Lounge, will host an event geared to­wards giv­ing pa­trons the VIP treat­ment at 101 Lounge sit­u­ated in the Maseru Mall’s Bhaduza Park com­pound. Var­i­ous VIP food and bev­er­ages pack­ages de­signed for groups of four will be on of­fer. South African singer Kelly Khu­malo and Le­sotho-born ac­tress Liopelo Maphathe are ex­pected to grace the event.

SATUR­DAY

Face of Le­sotho

Seven­teen beauty queens will strut their stuff in a bat­tle for the pres­ti­gious Face of Le­sotho ti­tle. The win­ner will land the op­por­tu­nity to rep­re­sent Le­sotho at the Face of Beauty In­ter­na­tional which will be held in In­dia in Septem­ber this year. She will also walk away with M5 000 cash with the two run­ners-up get­ting M3 000 and M2 000 re­spec­tively.

Easter Bon­net Le­sotho

A kids’ fun-day will be held at Maseru Cen­tral Park cater­ing for four to 12-year olds. Ac­tiv­i­ties lined up for the day in­clude an Easter egg hunt, play­ing on jump­ing cas­tles, danc­ing, face paint­ing and a raf­fle to win var­i­ous prizes. En­ter­tain­ment will be pro­vided by DJ T-spoon and Vo­da­com Dancers.

Coco Ca­bana Easter Spe­cial

The Easter edi­tion of the pop­u­lar life­style pic­nic or­ga­nized by Coco Ca­bana Le­sotho will be held at Pho­molo Guest House in Ha Matala. It will see per­for­mances from lo­cal disc spin­ners such as Trybz, DJ Lobby, Afro DJ, NINE24 and BoxFr3sh.

SUN­DAY

SPAA Mass Con­cert

The choral di­vi­sion of the multi-award win­ning Seru­mula Per­form­ing Arts Academy (SPAA) will ser­e­nade mu­sic lovers at Vic­tory Hall in Moshoeshoe II. The choral out­fit will per­form two corona­tion masses pre­pared by WA Mozart, be­ing Missa Bre­vis in C Ma­jor KV 259 (Or­gan Solo Missa Bre­vis) and Missa Solem­nis in C Ma­jor KV 317.
