Fun-filled ‘Redcup’ bash lined up

Sunday Express - - XPRESS PEOPLE - Mohalenyane Phakela

NEW kid on the entertainment block, Gift Givens Productions, is set to launch operations with a bang by hosting a party event on Saturday meant to unite youths and break social barriers at the Music Mansion in Maseru West.

Dubbed Redcup Hangout, the bash will feature a vast array of activities including sumo wrestling, red carpet walk, foam machine, ping pong, water guns, mini pools, play station arcade centre, jumping bags, water slides and old school games.

According to the event’s organiser, Refiloe Mokuoane, Redcup Hangout will afford young people the opportunity to mingle and create new friend networks. He said all those attending the event will hold a red cup as a symbol of equality.

“Redcup Hangout is all about the freedom to party and stand together as well as breaking social barriers, it will forge connections with new friends while reaffirming old ones,” Mokuoane said.

He added that upon arrival, each guest will be given a free American original red cup from which they will drink the beverages that take their fancy. Mokuoane said the idea behind drinking from the same cups was to make everyone feel like they are part of something much larger than themselves.

Attendees will then walk on the red carpet to have their picture taken which will be uploaded on the social networking site Instagram before engaging in activities of their choice.

“A projector will be showing the pictures of all the guests who walked on the red carpet and participated in the activities on offer,” he said.

“To spice things up, there will also be a powder paint splash and glow in the dark body paints spread on guests to give the party a wild feel under ultra-violet lighting.”

Mokuoane added that the exclusion of foreign performers was deliberate as they were keen on proving that an event can be successful without them.

“We want to set new standards and break the long held myth that for an event to be outstanding it has to involve foreign artistes when we have local performers who can deliver,” he said.

“This time we will focus on upcom- ing deejays and those mostly behind the scenes. The line-up will be a surprise.”

Mokuoane said the frequency of Redcup Hangout would depend on revellers’ re- sponse.

“Apart from that, we are already planning an exciting winter show in a totally different setting,” he said.

Sumo wrestling will is among the activities lined up at the Redcup Hangout.
