Sefotha-Fotha turn to Mokhothu

Sunday Express - - SPORT -

STRUGGLING Econet Premier League new boys Sefotha-Fotha have reinforced their technical team by appointing former Lioli and LCS coach, Mosholi Mokhothu, as technical advisor in a bid to save their season.

Mokhothu has won league titles with Lioli and LCS. He was forced to step down as Lioli coach at the start of last season because he did not have a CAF B licence certificate which is required of premier league coaches by the Lesotho Football Association.

He then assumed the role of Lioli technical director before being made assistant coach in January this year. He was relieved off his duties three weeks ago amid claims of poor relations between him and coach, Halemakale Mahlaha, who resigned last Monday.

Sefotha-fotha are second from the bottom in the 14-team premier league log standings with one point from the four matches they have played. Team manager, Phulane Mahlake, said they roped in Mokhothu due to his experience at the top level.

“He is one of the best coaches and we jumped at the opportunity to bring him into the team once we realised he was available,” Mahlake said.

“Most importantly we want him to help as advisor to the technical team (Tiisesto Moletehead coach as well as assistant coaches, Mothobi Molebatsi and Kananelo Moletsane).

“We have tried by all means to avoid situations where these gentlemen could step on each other’s toes due to roles that are not clearly defined. It is clear in Mokhothu’s contract that he will analyse for our coaches the teams that we will come up against as well as assess the strengths and weaknesses of our players.

“He may conduct sessions or be on the touchline on match days upon request from our coaches.”

Mahlake also said that the target was to maintain their premier league status, adding that a top eight finish would be a bonus for them. so I am confident we will win this match,” Matela said.

In other league matches this afternoon, Sky Battalion host pace setters Bantu at Setsoto Stadium.

Sandawana are away to LDF at Ratjomose Ground and Majantja will be out to extend their unbeaten streak against fellow new boys Sefotha-Fotha at Mohale’s Hoek DIFA Ground.
