Ban­tam weight boxer off to Thai­land

LO­CAL ban­tam weight (56kg) boxer Moroke Mokhotho is set for his first fight af­ter the Gold Coast Aus­tralia Com­mon­wealth Games in a week-long tour­na­ment in Thai­land that started yes­ter­day.

The Olympian said this tour­na­ment is part of his four-year schol­ar­ship un­der the Olympic Sol­i­dar­ity (OS) that started last year and ends in 2020.

The Olympic Schol­ar­ship for Ath­letes is a pro­gramme by (OS) that of­fers Na­tional Olympic Com­mit­tees (NOCs) the pos­si­bil­ity to ob­tain fi­nan­cial and tech­ni­cal as­sis­tance for a lim­ited num­ber of elite ath­letes. Un­der the fa­cil­ity, the ath­letes train and at­tempt to qual­ify for the Olympic Games.
