Name: Bernie Quah

Age: 25

Job: Graphic Record Artist &Founder of Sketchtch Post Studio

What’s your job about?

I create live large-scale graphic recordings at events and discussions to support the content that’s being discussed. It draws attention to interesting ideas and quotes that vmight have been missed post event.

What made you choose this particular occupation?

Illustration has always come naturally to me. I found it valuable as I attended conferences and began illustrating notes in my notebook. After a few years of practising it as an interest, I decided to turn it into a profession by starting Sketch Post Studio.

What’s a typical day at work like?

I read materials that organisers provide on the discussion topics to have a better idea of the speakers and their stories. Then, I prep boards by illustrating portraits of speakers, their names, event logos and more.

What are the perks of your job?

Meeting movers and shakers of industries. It’s also great to have a front-row seat and be given the opportunity to visualise a wide range of content such as entrepreneurship, design, technology, travel and more.

What’s the most difficult part of doing what you do?

I have to produce a finished drawing by the time the speaker walks off the stage. It’s a profession that depends on quick thinking.

How is 2014 looking like?

There have been requests to work in Hong Kong, Europe, Japan and New Zealand. I’m definitely looking forward to Sketch Post Studio making its global mark.

How well does your job pay?

Well, enough to not worry about personal income and instead focus on developing my talent and the company.
