Q My hair is thinning on the front. I’m only 25! I thought hair loss was a men’s problem. Why is this happening? A Hair loss occurs in as many as 45 per cent of women, so it’s actually quite a common problem. According to Dr. Corinne Jouanique, losing about 50 strands of hair a day is normal but anything more is excessive. Hair loss can stem from stress, pollution, hormone changes, and sudden weight loss. Depending on the cause of your hair loss, there’s a wide range of treatments you can opt for from vitamins to topical medication. Q There is a lot of hype when it comes to fruits that are good for your health but I’ve noticed that cranberries seem to be particularly on trend. What kind of health benefits do they provide? A Cranberries really are a wonder fruit, and their numerous health benefits are testament to that. They’re jam packed with vitamins like vitamin C (which is really awesome for your skin!) and fibre, helping to lower the risk of urinary tract infections, prevent certain types of cancer, improve immune function, and decrease blood pressure. It’s really easy to incorporate this into your diet. Just opt for cranberry juice or dried cranberries, like the ones by Ocean Spray. Q My feet are really dry even though I moisturise often! Why is this? A The skin on our feet is naturally dry as it doesn’t have oil glands unlike the rest of the body. Symptoms of dry feet can include itchiness, redness, and rough skin. This can be caused by factors such as excessively hot showers, low humidity, medical conditions, and long periods in the sun. The best treatment is to keep moisturising and to use moisturising soaps. Also, remember to stay hydrated!
