The fun stuff we’re reading, watching, and listening to.
Reminiscent of a young Usher, his voice is smooth, crisp, and he hits falsettos so effortlessly. This album has to be one of the best ones to drop this year. It’s a fresh piece of work that gives you good R&B with soul, funk, and a touch of pop. “I Love This Life” is infectious and fun, “Bad Thing” is sexy and slick, and “Brain Out” is cheeky. Title track “Undressed” is by far our favourite!
Lana Del Rey
If you’ve never been a fan of this languid-voiced songbird, this album will change your mind. Although she’s always had a draggy, haunting sound, she makes it sound so much more interesting on Ultraviolence that you can’t help but pay attention. It’s beautiful and romantic yet violent and dangerous. In short, it’s just plain sexy. Ms Del Rey has done us all a solid with this album. Tracks to look out for include “Brooklyn Baby”, “Cruel World”, and “Pretty When You Cry”.
