The Ford Focus line starts at RM118,888 OTR without insurance.
It’s one of the best-selling cars in the world. The Blue Oval brand won’t be giving up that reign anytime soon, at least not with the newly launched Focus (available in six colours, nonetheless). Excellent dynamics have always been a Ford Focus trademark. Maybe it’s the sculpted hood and trapezoidal grille that gives this overhauled pocket rocket a bolder and more modern face. Maybe it’s the slim front headlamps and rectangular fogs that frame its chiselled yet aggressive silhouette. Maybe it’s the lower and wider stance that presents a more muscular presence, letting the world know that here lurks a beast of frightening power. And, sure, skeptics would suggest the interior was less than impressive but we’d argued otherwise. The exterior is complemented by a simpler interior that gives us effortless control over the vehicle’s features. Leading the charge is the introduction of the SYNC 2 infotainment system, which boasts an eight-inch touch-screen (dedicated to phone, navigation, climate and entertainment functions) and an updated voice command system. The bigger display also means that the dashboard is no longer cluttered with tiny Its performance on the road also leaves little room for doubt. The new Focus was solid and responsive, and thanks to the enhanced door trim and engine insulation, extremely quiet too. Joining the 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine is a new six-speed automatic transmission. The new Focus is perfectly smooth and it works up to higher gear quickly, which translates to better fuel efficiency. Score! Those who are anxious about nailing that parking in a crowded mall will be grateful for its swanky new technology. The Enhanced Active Park Assist helps scans for available spaces and will guide the Focus into a perpendicular or parallel park. All you’ll need to do is work the brakes and accelerators. When tested out at the labyrinth of a parking area in KLCC, the Focus managed to squeeze itself between two SUVs under a minute. Always a solid car, the new Focus has reached heights few others can boast about, and has fixed many of the weaknesses that we disliked in the previous version, making it one of the most well-rounded and smartest small cars on the market to date.
