There are many reasons for someone to become a vegan. Yet being in Malaysia — where so much of its food culture is centred around meat and animal produce — it surely begs the questions ... Why did you become a vegan? “I decided on the ‘challenge’ [of being a vegan] because I was very selfconscious about my body image,” says Elina Nasution, 21. “Then I decided to learn more, especially about the impact [of human activity] on our health, the economy and the environment.
