Smirk’s Up!

CLEO (Malaysia) - - @PLAY -

Driving along Jalan Telawi is always fun, especially if bumper-to-bumper crawls on any day is something you seek comfort in. But with the launch of Smirk, braving through the horrendous traffic just to get to the homey café to grab a cuppa or a quick bite makes it an almost acceptable sacrifice.

Tucked away amid all the crazy that comes from the denser part of Bangsar, Smirk is located on the same lane as McDonald’s, and just a few doors down from Pince & Pints. Owner Elizabeth David has managed to turn this space into a vibrant café space oozing with a rather whimsical laidback vibe – perfect for your next date night (but don’t worry about breaking bank) or a quiet evening with friends. It delivers on the promise of offering something different, much to #teamCLEO’s approval (especially this writer’s). If you’re a fan of white meat, then the Grilled Salmon Fusion served with white rendang ratatouille and creamy radish sauce has your name written all over it. The Shredded Duck Confit with Coloured Pasta is basically spaghetti with sundried tomatoes and duck confit, and a whole lot of yum. And if you’re looking for something to Instagram (because who isn’t these days?), then you’ve found your subject. If you still have space for something sweet, end your meal with Crêpe Suzette. But we didn’t deliberately save the best for last, because if we could have it our way, we’d have this crêpe as appetizer, entrée and dessert!

Talk about quirky!
