Are you a TRY-HARD?

CLEO (Malaysia) - - YOUR LIFE, YOUR RULES! -

You adapt your personality to be more likeable, but it may make you look like a poser. Here’s how to stay true to yourself while still being the life of the party. Ever been in a social situation where you’ve fibbed to make yourself sound better? Come on, we’ve all been there. It’s an almost inexplicable social behaviour; we so badly want to be accepted by others — colleagues, friends, acquaintances — that we’re willing to go out of our way to make sure it happens. We talk up our jobs, partners and social lives, bending the truth to ensure we’re viewed positively by others. It’s not exactly lying, either; just a case of trying to fit in. It’s normal, to an extent, but there comes a time when you need to stop before you get caught in a web of lies — and get called out.
