50 FIRST DATE SPOTS

CLEO 2016 Bachelor finalist (and chef) Matthew Chan and Beauty YouTuber Mina Rosli went scouting!

CLEO (Malaysia) - - @PLAY -

Matthew: “This café is fantastic for couples looking to go on a fancy but reasonably-priced dinner date. You’ll earn extra partner points, too, if your date loves food photography because, here, presentation is just as high a priority as taste is. (Service is still quick, though!) “The chicken confit was my favourite, as the chicken was cooked sous-vide (although it was a little dry, it was still delicious). If you enjoy a fragrant tender teriyaki-grilled meat then you’ll want to try the ribs. Every dish on the menu was satisfactorily portioned for the price. The romantic vibe might even score you a future date!” Price: $$ Find Bacon & Brews at 52M, Jalan SS21/58, Damansara Uptown, Petaling Jaya. Matthew: “Coffee lovers seeking an intimate, quiet spot will love this place. Its minimalistic setup, along with their accommodating and friendly staff make this the ideal spot for first dates, especially when you take in its delectable menu. “We tried the flat white (brewed to perfection), long black (packs a punch, in a good way), and sugar-free chocolate sea salt cake (we almost ordered seconds!). “At the time of review, The Glass House served light snacks (finger foods) and beverages, but that doesn’t take away the fact that it’s still a great pit stop before you head to your actual lunch or dinner.” Price: $ Find The Glass House at Metropolitan Square, Jalan PJU 8/1, Damansara Perdana, Petaling Jaya. Mina: “This cosy bakery tucked amid the craziness of Bangsar is known for their pick-me-ups of sweet, buttery goodness. We were spoilt for choice, but we ended up choosing the lemon bar, sticky toffee pudding and rosewater pistachio cake. “Hands down, the lemon bars won – the sweet tanginess of the lemon curd and crumbliness of the pastry is quite the marital bliss. The sticky toffee pudding’s a classic that also doesn’t disappoint. The ambience and staff made us feel at home. The perfect spot for winding down together.” Price: $ Find Jaslyn Cakes at Lot7A, Jalan Telawi 2, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
