It’s a hu­man rights lawyers’ or­gan­i­sa­tion that seeks to pro­mote hu­man rights and de­fend hu­man rights de­fend­ers. What drove you to do hu­man rights work? I was in­spired to work in hu­man rights af­ter an in­tern­ship in2007—i twas aney e-open­ing time in Malaysia with the first Ber si hand Hin­draf protests, and the Malaysian Bar’ s Lawyers Walk f or Jus­tice. What is the most pow­er­ful thing about do­ing what you do? Help­ing to de­fend the hu­man right de­fender sand al­low­ing them to con­tinue their work, whether it’ s about free and fair elec­tions, jus­tice, or fun­da­men­tal free­doms. What drive you? The strength , braver y and re­silience of my col­leagues, ac­tivists and Malaysian sin striv­ing for a bet­ter na­tion. One thing the in­dus­try has taught you? Con­fi­dence and self-re­spect—be­ing in the le­gal pro­fes­sion and ac­tivism has armed me with both.
