Tatler Dining Malaysia

WHY GO

-

For a full- on, unforgettable French dining experience complemented by an extraordinary wine list, one can’t go wrong with Lafite.

A starter of lightly grilled octopus garnished with a dollop of corn cream, gourmet red peppers from Espelette and black garlic makes for a memorable opener, largely due to its inspired plating style which draws inspiration from the ‘splatterist’ school of deconstruction.

The Wagyu tenderloin main sees the meat being cooked as requested to ensure its rich flavour is retained while the subtle Sarawak pepper sauce enhances its taste.

It's worth following the French tradition and order a cheese platter before dessert as the five portions of artisanal cheeses from Brittany are excellent.

Dessert is just four entries, with the madeleine and passionfruit ice cream standing out from three others consisting of a chocolate dish, braised pineapple and carrot cake. While generous in portion size, the rather bland madeleine does go very well with the deliciously tart passionfruit ice cream.
