NADIA NASIMUDDIN, 28

DIRECTOR OF F&B AT NAZA CORP AND CREATIVE DIRECTOR OF PORTLUXE.COM.MY

Nadia Nasimuddin welcomes us into her beautiful duplex apartment and almost immediately we get lost in the glorious maze of mirrored doors that is her walk-in closet. The star of the shoot is instantly obvious: Nadia’s jaw-dropping collection of bags. Designer-wise, she cites admiration for Raf Simons, although her closet contains everything from Chanel to Hussein Chalayan.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO LOOK WHEN YOU HAVE 10 MINUTES TO GET OUT THE DOOR?

It would probably take less than 10 minutes because I’d slip on a pair of jeans and match a top. I’m into T-shirt cut tops now.

WHICH PIECE GIVES YOU A CONFIDENCE BOOST WHEN YOU WEAR IT AND WHY?

Definitely my shoes. I’m petite, so a little height boost gives me confidence, which also explains why I mostly have heels!

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE AN OUTFIT LAST ALL DAY?

I’d keep my outfit all black. I’d splash on some colour with my shoes or bag and change them according to the time of day or what my plans are for the day.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TOO MUCH OF IN YOUR WARDROBE?

Jeans, shoes, bags… too much of everything! Which is why I started Portluxe as an online outlet to let go of pre-loved items.

HOW DO YOU STYLE YOUR CLOSET AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ADD TO IT?

I like the combination of white wood and mirrors. It makes my closet look more spacious than it is. Which also means I’d like to add more closet space, please!

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE YOU TO GET READY AND WHAT IS YOUR ROUTINE OF GETTING DRESSED LIKE?

Not long, honestly. Ten to 15 minutes, tops. I’ll usually flip through my closet before heading into the shower. So once I’m out of the shower and prepped, I already know what to wear.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE ON WHAT TO WEAR?

If I’m dressing for an occasion in the evening, I will decide what to wear in the morning. That way, I’ll know how I want my hair done and what make-up look to go with. Other times, I just pick what to wear spontaneously.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVOURITE TRENDS THIS SEASON?

Just one in particular — masculine tailoring, especially what Raf Simons did at Dior this season.

WHAT THREE PIECES IN YOUR CLOSET ARE ESSENTIAL TO YOU?

My best pair of jeans, a blazer, as well as my late father’s vintage gold Rolex.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE IN THREE WORDS?

Clean, effortless, timeless.
