The most buzzworthy stories on our radar this month
FASHION THAT GIVES BACK
H&M is on a roll this month with their efforts in giving back — both to the environment and community. Come October 2, H&M wants you to go green by wearing the colour blue from their Conscious Denim collection. Available in pieces for the entire family, the range employs eco-friendly processes and sustainable materials. The brand also had its denim washes graded against the highest standards of Spanish denim consultants, Jeanologia, to assess their environmental impact. The end result? Lust-worthy denims in modern cuts and deep indigo tones.
The fashion giant also continues with their annual All for Children collection — a collaborative effort with UNICEF launched in 2009. This fantastical set of looks was inspired by an adventure into the woods. Say hello to fun items like gecko bags, reptilian joggers and an owl-like poncho that will have your kids going wild. Available in stores and online from October 30, 25 per cent of sales from the collection will go to UNICEF, to give children in some of the world’s poorest communities a better future through education. If you ever need a reason to splurge for yourself and for your family, why not make it these two really good ones?
Mad about Argan
Argan is a precious beauty ingredient with a host of benefits for skin and hair, from keeping the skin hydrated, to fighting the effects of ageing, and even healing. The Body Shop now features this rare Moroccan oil in a new Community Fair Trade Wild Argan range, sourced from argan nut growers in the Atlas mountains, so you can enjoy its healing properties from head to toe.
Snoopy & Belle IN FASHION
The world’s best-loved beagle, Snoopy, and his sister Belle are back making waves in the fashion world, with Peanuts Worldwide’s launch of the ‘Snoopy and Belle in Fashion’ exhibition, which shows the Peanuts characters wearing designs from the likes of Diane von Furstenberg, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger and Anna Sui. Timed to coincide with the 65th anniversary of the Charles Schulz comic in 2015, the 30th anniversary of the first ‘Snoopy in Fashion’ event and the brand’s first 3D film, the exhibition opened in New York and heads to Paris, Milan and Tokyo next year.
