Owning a Patek is something many younger people aspire to when they reach a certain age and, hopefully by then, a certain amount of wealth and/or success. The problem is, Patek would really like them to think about getting a piece now. So here’s a very ambitious Aquanaut Chronograph which comes in a lively orange livery. This Ref. 5968A is a 42.2MM watch and is designed to have a sporty feel. And while the target demographics for this piece is a younger, more active person, you’re still getting a Patek Philippe. This means that the rotor for the automatic is in 21K gold, the chronograph has a zero-friction clutch disc and, lo and behold, it’s water resistant to 120m. And of course, you’ll need to drop around RM170,000 for this little prize. That’s relatively affordable compared to the other pieces from Patek and is perhaps a reminder of why it remains one of the most visible icons of success, regardless of age.
