There aren’t many shoes that work as well on an Oxford professor as they do on the Wu-tang Clan, but Wallabees do just that. Chalk it up to the suede upper, the crepe sole, the rugged stitching, or the distinctive shape—whatever the reason, these moccasin-chukka crossbreeds have quietly earned their place as the most versatile kicks around. Clarks has been turning out the originals since 1967, but this season the fashion crowd got in on the game, with houses like Saint Laurent and Tod’s making subtle tweaks to a classic. Whether it’s imitation or homage, you can’t have too much of a good thing.
